News: Geographica Helvetica goes open access

15 December 2014

The editors, Copernicus Publications and the Trägerschaft – the Geographisch-Ethnographische Gesellschaft Zürich (GEGZ) and the Swiss Association of Geography (ASG) – have agreed that the journal Geographica Helvetica (GH) will go full open access starting 01 January 2015.

This means that all articles which have been published in the past and all articles which will be published in the future are openly accessible on the journal’s website immediately after publication in GH. Authors retain copyright and the articles will be disseminated under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License.

All existing subscriptions – individual and through the Geographisch-Ethnographische Gesellschaft Zürich (GEGZ) and other Swiss geographical societies – have been discontinued. Print subscriptions can still be ordered on a print-on-demand basis. More information on subscriptions is available on the journal's website.

The editors, Copernicus Publications and the Trägerschaft are proud that a journal with such a long tradition as GH will be transformed into a future-oriented publication model. We hope that this will further increase the outreach and impact of Geographica Helvetica. We believe that not only the readers and authors and their institutions, but also the broader public, will benefit from this exciting development. Download this announcement.
