Geographica Helvetica, the Swiss journal of geography, publishes contributions in all fields of geography as well as in related neighbouring disciplines. It is a multi-lingual journal, accepting articles in the three main Swiss languages, German, French, and Italian, as well as in English. It invites theoretical as well as empirical contributions. The journal welcomes contributions that specifically deal with empirical questions relating to Switzerland.
Responding to the current situation
The editorial team of Geographica Helvetica is aware of the concerns and challenges that the current COVID-19 pandemic is causing and that the effects of the pandemic on the ability to work are very unevenly distributed. It is our concern at this conjuncture to acknowledge and take into account the challenges of the most vulnerable persons in the academic system – those with family care duties, those with precarious employments, those early in their careers depending on timely publication, etc.
We still invite and accept submissions to the journal, but we will provide more flexibility in the system to respond to these submissions. We have extended deadlines for reviewer reports, and the Copernicus team (firstname.lastname@example.org) in consultation with the editors will handle requests for extensions or special arrangements in a responsive manner. This responsiveness to individual needs has been a principle and practice for a long time, and we will give it even more attention in these difficult times.
